LEADS HIS PEOPLE

24" x 48" oil on canvas

Moving to winter camp was always a major undertaking. The logistics of moving 50-2000 people, the horse herds, camp equipment and belongings was quite an effort. Overseeing this endeavor were the Akicita (tribal police). Protocols had to be followed. With any move, outlier scouts would mark the way and watch for enemies, but always the Principal Chief would ride in the front - Leading His People. © Steven Lang OPAM
